About Gebr. Ligthart
Since 1875, LIGTHART has been building vehicles for transport, logistics, and recovery. What began as a wagon-making workshop has grown into a specialist in bodywork and vehicle engineering. Those 150+ years of experience and craftsmanship are reflected in every vehicle we build.

From a carriage-making workshop to a specialist in vehicle, bodywork, and tank construction
What began in 1875 with the construction of wooden transport equipment has grown into a specialty in bodywork and tank manufacturing. Over the years, LIGTHART has continuously evolved within the dynamic world of technology and transportation. As a result, LIGTHART knows exactly what is needed in practice today.
This development is not only reflected in the products, but also in the way of working. Knowledge is passed on and further developed, generation after generation. Today, a wide range of transport equipment and applications are being built within the fields of bodywork and tank construction, used daily throughout the Netherlands.
Craftsmanship in Practice
At LIGTHART , everything comes together in the workshop. This is where we not only build, but also design, calculate, modify, and inspect. From the initial design to the final delivery, we maintain control over the engineering and execution.
Drawing on expertise in bodywork and tank construction, hydraulics, steering systems, and structural engineering, we work daily on a wide range of transport equipment and installations. Whether it involves maintenance, modifications, or new superstructures, everything is designed with a focus on usability, safety, and reliability.
This combination of knowledge and practical experience ensures that the equipment is not only technically sound, but also intuitive to use and continues to function reliably under all conditions.
Our workshop
The workshop in Schagerbrug is where LIGTHART has been building, maintaining, and refining its products for generations. This is where it all comes together: design, construction, repair, and inspection—all handled entirely in-house.
With the right facilities and technical expertise, we work on a wide range of transportation equipment and systems here every day. Everything is done under one roof. This ensures quality control and the ability to respond quickly when necessary.

The team
LIGTHART is home to a team of professionals who put their knowledge and experience into practice every day. Much of that knowledge resides in the hands and minds of people who have been practicing their craft for years. That experience is passed down from one generation to the next. New colleagues learn the trade alongside those who have proven themselves. This keeps knowledge dynamic and ensures its continued development. The shared passion for technology and our approach to work foster a close-knit team where personal growth is central.
MEKOS: A Trusted Brand
Within LIGTHART, operations are conducted under the MEKOS brand. Under this name, the company carries out structural work and sheet metal fabrication, ranging from custom steel structures and sheet metal work to the construction and modification of machinery and technical installations. All of this work is performed entirely in-house at the workshop in Schagerbrug—from cutting and machining to welding, assembly, and finishing.

LIGTHART is part of KOKS Group
Since early 2026, LIGTHART has been part of KOKS Group, an international organization specializing in industrial engineering and cleaning solutions. This move has further strengthened LIGTHART’s position in the vehicle body and machine manufacturing sectors.
The combination of engineering, custom fabrication, and in-house production creates a strong foundation for tackling complex equipment and technical challenges. The knowledge and experience of LIGTHART and MEKOS complement the KOKS Group’s activities perfectly.
At the same time, the essence of LIGTHART remains intact. The workshop in Schagerbrug, the craftsmanship, and the way we work still form the foundation. From there, we work every day to develop solutions that work in practice.
